Corinne Collins

Born in Congleton, Cheshire Corrinne Colins always loved horses and was often taken by her Granddad to Oakhanger for riding lessons when she was a little girl untill she eventually got her own horse.

Corrinne Colins first lesson was at Oakhanger when she was four, then for my seventh birthday she had her own pony which she broke in myself. unfortunately the pony couldn`t jump whereupon I got my second pony, Prince, and started to learn to jump at Oakhanger at the Tuesday night shows.

Corrinne Collins then progressed to Cheshire Jumping Club and won my first major class in 1988. At this time she also joined several local Riding Clubs, Leek and District, Caverswall and District, and Nantwich Riding Clubs. Corrine Collins represented all of them in local team competitions and won most of the championship trophies for the end of year points.

Her childhood highlight was qualifying for Hickstead and coming 6th in the British Riding Club Championships when she was 11 years old.

Corrine Collins started riding horses when she was 13 but only bought unbroken horses due to cost. She brought the horse on herself and together went on to win six consecutive Senior British Novice classes. She also rode a friend`s horse in the Martin Dawes Open Championship and was 3rd.
 Corinne Collins Show Jumper
After riding for several horse dealers in the area she soon got a good reputation for being able to get the best out of any horse. Her ambition at that time was to jump in Europe and be a member of the Young Riders Team.

Corrine Collin`s dream then started to become a reality when she met George O`shea who had moved to the area. He specialised in competition horses and in training riders for show jumping. This was when she bought my first proper horse.

George recognised my potential, and with his support and encouragement Corrine Collins was able to compete worldwide. Corrine has since won in, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Canada, and even India. Corrine has also been placed in Austria, Spain and Switzerland.

In 2001 Corrine Collins had her biggest win at the Middlesex Grand Prix, and the same year topped the Lady Riders Ranking in the UK.

During the Sydney Olympics, Corrine Collins looked after horses belonging to several of the British Olympic Team members whilst they were away.

Corrine Collins has been a member of the World Class Start Programme for three years and hope to realise her ambition to compete at the next olympics, as many leading riders have confirmed. At the moment Corrine Collins has a string of up and coming horses.
